Meditation for Sacral Chakra Healing

Sacral Chakra is located at the lower belly along the spine (2-3 inches above the root chakra). Unrestricted energy flow or healing of the energy blocks at the Sacral Chakra helps in improving creative expression in a person. Adequate energy flow can be ensured or restored at this Chakra by regular meditation on this Chakra, for 5 minutes daily to start with.

Ideally, mediation at the Sacral Chakra is done after completing 5 minutes of meditation on the Root Chakra. However, if a person is trying to heal specific issues pertaining to the Sacral chakra, meditation directly on the Sacral chakra can also be done.

Sacral Chakra is represented by the symbol of an orange, six-petal lotus at the height of the lower belly, along the spine. The chant for meditating on this Chakra is “vam” (“v” while inhaling and “m” while exhaling). The mudra (finger posture) for meditating on the Sacral Chakra is as shown in the video.

To meditate on the Sacral Chakra, first the person needs to be seated on a mat on the floor, cross-legged (or on a chair normally), spine straight, head over shoulders. Be relaxed, gently close eyes, bring your focus on your breath and try to let go tension in the muscles of various body parts.

Once you feel that you are in a relaxed state and have settled your focus on your breath, witness your breath rate gradually slowing down – dont force it, just let it happen. In this state, now gradually shift your attention to the Sacral Chakra. Visualize the orange colored six-petal lotus and mentally chant “v” while inhaling, and chant “m” while exhaling. With each inhalation, visualize the lotus booming and with each exhalation, visualize it shrinking a bit.

If you are shifting your meditating from the Root Chakra to the Sacral Chakra, just gently shift the position of your mudra and shift the mental chant to vam.

After few days of regular practice, you will start feeling some tingling sensations at the Sacral Chakra. You might also experience positive change in your artistic, creative and romantic pursuits. These all are indications that your practice is going in the right direction. Keep practicing every day!
